Ivan left school after Grade Nine and joined a pottery studio as an apprentice. Over the ten years, employed as a production potter, he gathered considerable knowledge and perfected his skills.
The studio closed, and Ivan set up his own studio at home, producing ceramic ware for local shops and restaurants.
Ivan Alexander, as the first employee of Porcupine, was empoyed for his skill and expertise in ceramics, and much to his own surprise, discovered a latent artistic ability, deep within his soul, when in 1994 Pat and he started to make up the first of the Porcupine range.
Ivan has been involved with every aspect of the production and development of Porcupine products and whilst still throwing all the large pots and basins, oversees the studio production.
his design and creative skills have played a major role in the development of the product.
